Australia’s top national young chef talent are gearing up to compete in the world’s oldest, largest and most diverse international exhibition of culinary arts, the IKA/Culinary Olympics.

The six-strong team line-up comprises young chefs who have demonstrated dedication to their culinary advancement and a strong commitment to represent Australia on the world stage. All team members are award-winning junior chefs at a state, national and international level, including competing in the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award as a pre-selection requirement.

Youth Team Australia will compete against 24 countries with the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and potential to an audience of over 30,000 visitors from across the globe.

“Participation in this competition is both an honour and an opportunity for young chef talent to represent their country on the global stage. It’s an intense three-years of training for our national culinary youth team as they strive for perfection and precision across each and every plate. It’s almost time for them to step up and fight for the medals and as the anticipation builds, I’m seeing them learning from one another and growing together as a team,” Patrick O Brien, Australian National Culinary Youth Team Manager.

The 25th edition of the IKA/Culinary Olympics will be held in Stuttgart for the first-ever time, 14-19th February 2020, where the Australian Youth Team six will be amongst 2,000 competing chefs.

“Teams from all over the world will be gathered together for this truly unique global competition. It’s the ultimate culinary showdown and Nestlé Professional is proud to support the national youth team in their journey. In no other cooking competition do so many professional chefs get to measure their skills against each other. It’s a unique chance for Australia’s best and brightest young chefs to be judged under immense pressure by the best of the best expert global judges,” Mark Clayton, Executive Chef Nestlé Professional.
