Choice Collective - Navigating Standard 6 Together

With the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s new Standard 6—Food and Nutrition—set to take effect on 1 July 2025, aged care providers are preparing for significant changes. The new standard reinforces the importance of food in residents’ quality of life, focusing on nutrition, personal choice and a more inclusive dining experience. Meeting these expectations while maintaining efficiency in a high-demand kitchen environment presents a challenge—one many professional kitchens can relate to.

To support aged care providers in navigating this shift, Meyer Food Co alongside founding partners UNOX and Birch & Waite has launched Choice Collective. This initiative fosters collaboration between industry leaders, focusing on realworld solutions to help providers consistently deliver nutritious, high quality meals around the clock.

Meyer Food Co has long supplied aged care kitchens with sous vide products that ensure tender, safe and nutritious meals while radically simplifying preparation. UNOX has brought its expertise in cutting edge oven technology, introducing providers to a worldfirst innovation in multiday food preservation, the Evereo hot fridge. Combined with Birch & Waite's chef quality range of sauces, condiments and desserts, these partners are paving the way to 24/7 meal service in aged care facilities.

The inaugural event welcomed industry leaders from Scalabrini Communities, Anglicare Sydney, Hubfoods, Cater Care, RSL LifeCare and BaptistCare. Attendees had the chance to discuss challenges and share ideas. They also enjoyed eight outstanding dishes.

Choice Collective is actively seeking new strategic partners to help grow into a vital resource, offering a wealth of knowledge and support for aged care providers to achieve the best possible outcomes for their residents. If you have solutions, it’s time to share them. Reach out via the email address below.

With a strong start and valuable insights shared, momentum is building for the next Choice Collective event planned for 28 May at Meyer Food Co in Kings Park, Sydney. Register your interest on the link below. But hurry, only 20 seats are available and are getting snapped up fast.
